Will you dance with me?

To give you a quick idea about the story behind the poem, I recently read a book called A woman’s Heart That Dances. It was very inspirational. I have been mulling over the idea of a poem since I finished and I finally put it into words. Hope you like it!

Music swells as if by chance.
A rhythm so inviting.
Mysterious is such melodies that draw me to the dance.
As sure as the sun my mind has been made.
This overture I will evade.

Unworthy am I who hears this call.
I am not who you desire.
I am not adorned with diamonds or pearls.
Nor have I dancing shoes.
I am not clothed in riches of this world.
Nor know the steps to waltz with you.
I have no graceful moves.
What have I to offer?

Once again the music swells.
I begin to see.
All the world has faded.
It’s just you and me.
The symphony crescendos.
I hear a soft still whisper,
“You’re more then jewels to me!”
“You’re what I desire!”

Before me stands a gift.
Beauty like I’ve never known.
Jewels so rare and glistening.
The most elegant gown I’ve ever seen.
Shoes that sparkle like the nightly seas.
A note that says ‘Made For Me’

Softly spoken,
I hear my name.
You’re asking me to dance.
I do not know the steps but I concede.
I hear, “Lean in and I will lead.”
